iPads and Children's Attention Networks

 

The purpose of this study is to learn how mobile technology can influence children's cognitive functioning. 

 

Age of Interest: 3.5- to 5-year-old children

Participation:

  • One-time visit to UMass Amherst lab location

  • 1 hour in duration

  • Your child will:

    • Play a simple computer game

    • Play a cooking game on a tablet or with toys

Compensation:

Child Affective Picture System- Reward

The purpose of this study is to develop a better understanding of how children process reward-related images. We are specifically interested in differences in neural processing between distinct reward categories.

 

Age of Interest: 6- to 10-year-old children

Participation:

  • One-time visit to UMass Amherst lab location

  • 1.5 - 2 hours in duration

  • Your child will:

    • Play a picture viewing game

    • Rate child-friendly pictures on pleasantness and arousal

    • Play a brief looking game

    • Wear a cap that records brain activity

Compensation:

  • $20 for family

Study on Learning and Attention in Children

The purpose of this study is to understand how children learn under different conditions.
